Drywall Repair in Georgetown, Delaware

Georgetown is the county seat of Sussex County, and its housing stock reflects that history. From the older colonials and ranches surrounding The Circle to newer townhomes and subdivisions built out toward Route 113, the range of wall conditions we encounter here is wide. KD Drywall N Paint has worked throughout Georgetown on everything from post-plumbing patch jobs in older homes to full ceiling repairs after roof leaks in newer construction.

Older Homes Near The Circle

Georgetown's historic core has homes that were built when drywall wasn't even standard — many feature original plaster walls or early-generation drywall that doesn't respond well to standard patching compounds. We use Zinsser Gardz — a penetrating primer that hardens and seals deteriorated or chalky surfaces — along with FibaFuse, a fiberglass mat tape that embeds into joint compound to reinforce seams, to bridge the gap between older substrates and new material. The result is a repair that holds through the natural settling that comes with seasonal temperature swings in Delaware.

Newer Subdivisions and Townhomes

Georgetown's newer residential areas — including developments off Seashore Highway and Route 9 — tend to have standard modern drywall, but repairs still require careful texture matching. Whether it's orange peel, knockdown, or a smooth Level 5 finish, the goal is always for the repaired area to disappear into the surrounding wall. We take the time to match the existing texture before painting, so the finished result looks like the damage never happened.

Did You Know?

A few local facts about the community we serve.

Georgetown became the county seat of Sussex County in 1791, replacing Lewes in that role. The Delaware General Assembly chose a more central location for the seat of government, and the town was named in honor of a commissioner named George Mitchell who helped lay out the original town plan.

Georgetown is home to Return Day, one of America's most unique political traditions. Held every two years on the Thursday after Election Day, the event has been celebrated since 1812, when voters would return to Georgetown to hear the official election results read aloud from the courthouse steps. It is still celebrated today.

The historic Georgetown Circle, around which the original town was laid out, remains the center of the community. The Sussex County Courthouse on the Circle has been a fixture of Georgetown since the town's founding.
