Fenwick Island is Delaware's southernmost beach community, sitting right on the Maryland border between the Atlantic Ocean and Little Assawoman Bay. As a small barrier island community, nearly every home here deals with the same set of challenges: salt air, high humidity, and the wear that comes from seasonal use. KD Drywall N Paint provides drywall repair and interior painting for Fenwick Island homeowners and property managers.
Fenwick Island's location between the ocean and the bay means that homes here are exposed to some of the most demanding moisture conditions in Sussex County. Drywall tape can fail, corners can crack, and water stains can develop from condensation or slow leaks that go unnoticed for months. When corner bead needs to be replaced, we use Trim-Tex Fast Edge — a vinyl corner bead that locks in place without fasteners and holds up better in coastal humidity than standard metal bead. We assess each situation individually — sometimes the right approach is to cut out and replace the damaged section; other times, sealing with Zinsser BIN shellac primer and refinishing is the correct call.
Many Fenwick Island properties are used seasonally, and damage that develops over the off-season is often discovered when owners return in spring. We work with property owners and managers to schedule repairs efficiently — whether that means coordinating with a property management company or working during a short window when the owners are available.
We offer free, no-obligation estimates for drywall and painting projects in Fenwick Island and the surrounding South Coastal Delaware area.

Yes. We regularly work with out-of-town owners and property managers in coastal communities. We can assess the damage, send an estimate, complete the work, and send photos of the finished job.
Yes. We can safely remove popcorn ceilings, repair any underlying imperfections, skim coat for a smooth finish, and paint the ceiling.
A few local facts about the community we serve.
Fenwick Island is named after Thomas Fenwick, who owned the land at the turn of the 18th century. The town was not incorporated until 1953, making it one of the later-incorporated communities on the Delaware coast.
The Fenwick Island Lighthouse, completed in 1858 and first lit in 1859, stands near the southern border of Delaware and was constructed to help ships navigate the shallow waters off the coast. The lighthouse is still standing today and remains one of the most recognizable landmarks in the area.
In the late 1700s, the Fenwick Island area was known as a source of salt. Local residents collected salt from the area, which was a valuable commodity at the time. The community remained largely undeveloped until the mid-20th century, when beach tourism began to transform the Delaware coast.
